HIGHLIGHTS of KUROBE CITY

The Kurobe River, flowing into Toyama Bay from the North Alps, is one of Japan's cleanest and most prominent rivers. It is an expanse of pure water where the splendor of nature continues in a cycle of birth and rebirth. Kurobe City features a beautiful landscape along the delta of the Kurobe River, and it is home to many interesting highlights and attractions.

The Station of Fish, Ikuji
"Toretate-kan" in Ikuji is a place where local fishermen come to sell their catches directly. It is a great place to get fresh fish from a reliable source. All of Kurobe's famous marine products are gathered here for sale. Also, Koukaihi (located in the Dekitate-kan) is a restaurant where one can enjoy Ikuji salted fish as well as traditional beach cuisine as cooked by the mothers of fishermen.

Located in Ikuji, this area has 18 cool springs and is usually bustling with local residents who chat while using the springs to cool watermelons and beer, do laundry, or clean vegetables.

This pasture features tranquil farm scenery where one can easily lose track of time. At an altitude of 425m, it overlooks the Kurobe Plain and Toyama Bay, and it also has a great panoramic view of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. Visitors can purchase dairy products at MOO Garden or enjoy a meal at the Barbeque House.

The Unazuki Beer-kan operates a restaurant and local brewery that produces draft beer based on German techniques. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the local beer that makes use of Kurobe's famous water.

The Yoshida Science Museum is home to the best planetarium on the Sea of Japan coast which offers fun introductions to the constellations year-round. In addition they conduct several exhibitions on the use and culture of water, and they also have 3D video screenings.
